Croft village sign

The sign below is for the village of Croft, the image is in low relief and was first sculptured in clay and finally cast in aluminium.

The early fourteenth century church at Croft, is a building of freestone in late perpendicular styles of medieval architecture, consisting of chancel, clerestoried nave of five bays, aisles, south porch and western tower.

In the fifteenth century the chancel, with its five light east window, was built. The walls of the aisles were rebuilt and the original south door retained. The magnificent rood screen, the perpendicular carved parclose screens and the most beautiful carved pew ends were placed in position. The church was re-consecrated after this work by Bishop Grey in 1430.
