Our
time capsules are sand cast in lead,
which has been specifically chosen in
consultation with metallurgists and
conservationists for its resistance to
corrosion when buried underground for
long periods (some since Roman times),
and the contents found to be in
remarkable condition.
Time capsules are
used by schools, companies, councils and
even families to record and preserve
today's artefacts for future generations,
documenting how we live today.
Recording the
whereabouts of your time capsule is very
important, as many capsules in the past
have been lost, due to poor record
keeping (who will know where you have
placed your time capsule in hundreds of
years from now). The International
Time Capsule
Society in Atlanta USA
provides a registry of time capsules
around the world, making sure that they
are properly recorded. They provide a
free online registration form for anyone
wishing to register a time capsule, their
website can be found at ITCS
